This one is a bit different but let us see how it goes.
So, I’ve been interested in subscription boxes for a while now. I’ve always wanted to try out a beauty box but not too keen on paying money, getting on with products one month and then not the next, although I think that’s the mystery. I haven’t heard any bad things from these beauty boxes but for some reason, I’m just not completely sold, not yet anyway.
However, I like the idea of receiving a package, once a month that is suited to Luna, so I went for Bark Beats. Luna is my miniature dachshund and a right little rascal, so why wouldn’t I treat her to a surprise party box once a month?
After mooching around on the internet, looking for a company that provides not only great service, works with great products and has a reasonable subscription price I stumbled across Bark Beats. I think from what I remember the 3-month subscription was more expensive than the 6 months and the 12 months ended up being the most expensive. Therefore, I went for the 6-month subscription. The prices didn’t break the bank, it ends up working around £15 to £25. Which I think is fairly reasonable but for someone that wanted a little taste, the 3-month subscription would’ve been better but I settled for 6 months one as it worked out cheaper.
It was a simple procedure. You sign up, make an account and then fill in details about your pet, cat or dog? What size? Adult or puppy? Then you decide which subscription suits you best and then they deliver your box the last week of the month. Perfect!
In our first box, we received 2 toys, 2 bags of treats and 2 little biscuit bones and I was a little disappointed. Why? I don’t know whether because it was our first box I was feeling a little bit extra greedy and maybe because my expectations were a bit too high. I unloaded everything out of the box and it seemed a bit empty, however Having £5 off my first box and receiving everything I did, I was definitely chuffed with that price.
Everything I did receive in the box was top quality and to be fair, if you went to Pets at Home, all of this probably would’ve cost £20, so who am I to argue with that? Both toys were well made and Luna was bloody chuffed. She normally only likes toys that squeak or that are tennis balls but for some strange reason, she can’t get enough of these 2 toys.
The treats were a hit and miss. Yet again, Luna is fussy. I’ve bought her treats in the past from various places but it seems like they were possibly too artificial for her. I thought the ‘Scooby Snacks’ were going to fit into that artificial category but Luna loved. They smell like very meaty dog treats, still quite an artificial smell but I suppose the smell intrigues her. I’m not complaining because I’ll definitely be repurchasing these! The other bag of treats were a bit different, they are long carrot biscuit sticks wrapped in dried chicken slices. Quite different but yet again, Luna was sold. However with these ones there was a downside, we had a bit of an incident where Luna started choked on these as they somehow got stuck to the roof of her mouth. Not a great moment so she, unfortunately, won’t be finishing those off. A bit of a shame but I’m so happy I didn’t leave her with one as a treat for when I go out for a few hours, that could’ve ended badly. However, the saving grace were the little 2 biscuit bones, she loved them too. They were a treat that would keep her quiet for a few moments and she really enjoyed them. My only criticism would be to make them bigger so that she would be occupied for a few moments more!
Overall, our experience of the first box was great. To be honest, it was our first box and I need to step back and see that I’ve received a lot of great things for a great price and most of all Luna was chuffed to bits with everything. The attention to detail with the packaging was superb and now I can’t wait for next months box. Neither can Luna, although I don’t think she quite gets the subscription box thing, not yet anyway!
