WARNING! Glitter is very messy, use with caution.
Phew, now that I’ve got the important stuff out the way lets chat about how I messed around with some glitter and went a little bit mental.
I’m going to be honest, as always. This doesn’t look great but it’s really fun, once you get past the fact that it’s very messy of course. I’ve been getting pretty down for a while now, not only because my health is taking a battering but to what it’s doing to my body. I’m tired a lot of the time, my nails always snap off and my eyelashes are almost none existent. I can deal with most of the shitty side effects of my undiagnosed illness although when it comes to my eyelashes, it’s pretty shit and that’s why in a lot of my post you’ll see me without any eye makeup on.
Around Christmas, I think on New Years Day, was the first time I had worn eye makeup for a while. It was nice and actually a little weird to see my eyes pop but my eyelashes in reality just can’t handle mascara. I think the amount my body has to put up with I understand how nutrition is key, however, I can eat really well all I want, but my stomach seems to be somewhat draining it all and I’m left a little perished. You could say, go down the false eyelashes route and on occasion I do but it’s some much faff and I don’t always have the time. Therefore, I just accept what my body is going through. I’m on the road to getting some answers and in the mean time, I’ll do without makeup and look like a boy.
That’s why this Valentines Day I wanted to try something a bit different and fun. I wanted to do something that shows I’m still making an effort around the holiday, so why not change eye make up for glitter roots? So many people out there have made this look so easy and where I probably went wrong was the ratio of gel to glitter. I was very heavy on the gel so as you can see my hair starts separating. It can then look a bit greasy, however, you can clearly see its gel and glitter so I hope people will just see it as a bit of fun, which it is! I think it’s a trial and error thing, it’s definitely something a lot of people did/do around the festival, summer season but I want to give it a go this Valentines and get a bit creative. I’m not one to go nuts on Valentines with my other half but not making a lot of effort with makeup makes me want to not make a lot of effort with clothing and it can be a vicious circle. So, I’ve given this a go and maybe I’ll create a look based this technique.
Let me know what you think? I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, especially around February but it’s a great technique and a lot of fun. Let me know if you have given this a go and if you want an in-depth-ish tutorial on how I made this happen, check the video below.
