Christ, where to start?
Not only was this my first blogger event but it was a Lush event. How cool? The event was based around Fathers Day, as it is of course looming. We were told how this range was about introducing more of the masculine scents, such as sandalwood into their products. Therefore obviously aiming them towards men, from bath bombs to soaps. I was really impressed and completely saw where the company was coming from.
When it comes to pampering products, men (however not as many these days, which is great) seem to think they’re aimed towards women, especially the bath bombs and face masks. I suppose it doesn’t help when so many women rave about Lush on the daily and that’s why, I’m sure, most boyfriends are probably fully aware of the brand and (might) therefore have an opinion. I’m assuming that they might think it’s for girls. However, this range is something men should be inclined to check out because it definitely will open eyes to the world in which ‘pampering’ should be for everyone.
On a separate note, I am completely hopeless when it comes to buying my dad gifts. No offensive dad, if you’re reading this but you really are a nightmare. I try and go down the thoughtful route, for example, photos and letters but they get hidden away in a ‘safe place’ and never seen again. Then there’s going all materialistic, buying something he might wear or is running out of. The standard ‘dad’ socks seem to be the way forward but how boring!? So, I commend you, Lush, because you have really pulled it out of the bag and impressed me with this range.
From my recollection, I believe they’ve done a Fathers Day range for a few years now so this is a little embarrassing but I really am impressed. I’m lucky enough to have a dad that really enjoys baths so why didn’t I think of this before? Why? I don’t know why and I’m kinda kicking myself a little bit right now but at last, I have something to now lean towards. After chatting to my dad about this event and showing him the wonderful freebies I received he seemed really intrigued and is currently testing out some of the products. No longer will I feel like a failure when having to gift my dad with something!
Back to the event… The event was super informative and I couldn’t be more thankful that I received an invite. I was a little bit bummed that the other bloggers who were also there were a bit closed off. I wanted, in my head, for it to be an event where I could network and meet some people that also enjoy blogging but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. Don’t get me wrong, everyone seem lovely but I seemed to click more with the actual people that hosted the event rather than the people who attended.
The lovely Lush staff really made the evening and I’m really chuffed that I ventured into Bromley to attend as I haven’t been before and was pleasantly surprised. They all taught me so much and it’s made me love Lush even more. It’s a brand that is trying to become completely vegan and in the process trying to be as eco and efficient as possible, you really can’t fault them. So much thought and love go into making each and every product and I think the pricier ones are worth every penny.
Me, being as lovely as I am, obviously, treated my other half to a gorilla perfume called Breathe of God, and it really is, well I can imagine it is. As we learnt so much about masculine scents that evening, after purchasing a coffee scrub for myself although my wonderful freebies were probably more than enough, I wanted to treat Andrew to something. I wanted him to have a perfume that was created by Lush as a little gift for coming to the event with me. The scent is in my eyes so unique and again, so much thought has gone into it. At first, you smell, or I can smell watermelons and cucumbers, then it all of a sudden goes into a heavyish man smell. It’s so hard to explain! However, every time he wears it, it reminds me of the event, how much we learnt and a little reminder that he supports what I love to do, which is actually quite lovely.
Lush really is a unisex brand and I can tell you now, Andrew is now almost too eager to use my bath bombs, it’s getting annoying. To any men out there who might be reading this, if you haven’t gone head first and dived into not some but all of their section of products, what the hell have you been doing? Try them you fool, you’ll never go back… you’re welcome.
Lastly, I have been vlogging for over a month now so therefore filmed a bit of this event, so I’ll link that down below for you in case you fancied a little bit of a visual.
Lots of love, as always.
